Lead Software Engineer, Bath, Salary Competitive

FWD Thinking are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to head up a client's Agile team, you will be highly motivated, have high attention to detail and have experience leading your development team under the Agile/Scrum environment. The responsibilities of this role include designing and developing high-quality/scalable applications for their digital map platform, providing guidance to members of the Dev Team and supporting the work of the Technical Architect and Scrum Master.

Lead Software Engineer :

  • 50/50 split between leading team/writing clean code
  • Collaborate and educate the Dev Team to achieve the sprint goals
  • Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle
  • Ensure designs are in compliance with specifications
  • Prepare and produce releases of software components
  • Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review
  • Provide informed, clear input to the design process


  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
  • Proven working experience in Java or Scala
  • Knowledge of the JavaScript language including ES6
  • Experience of client-side JavaScript frameworks, preferably ReactJS
  • Solid understanding of HTML5 and CSS3
  • Practical exposure to JavaScript build tools and delivering web apps to production.
  • Object Oriented analysis and design and 'Clean Code'
  • Good knowledge of Relational Databases
  • Experience in developing web applications using at least one popular web framework
